Bad day for highlighting bad news

First there was Jo Moore, now we have Damian McBride, two political advisers, who provide perfect PR case study material – http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7999306.stm

Sir Gus O’Donnell, head of the civil service, said former Downing Street adviser McBride’s email slurs were a “clear and serious breach” of Whitehall rules.

Their actions do not sit well against the first two principles of the CIPR Code of Conduct either:

1) Maintain the highest standards of professional endeavour, integrity, confidentiality, financial propriety and personal conduct

2) Deal honestly and fairly in business with employers, employees, clients, fellow professionals, other professions and the public

From Twitter to Fritter

The most recent PWP post was on Twitter – but now the warnings are about ‘Frittering’ – the impersonation of an authentic Twitter site. It has also caught the eye of Chartered Institute of Public Relations President Kevin Taylor – http://prvoice.typepad.com/

However, the big new thing in social media this week is Social Mention, a real time search engine, which monitors user-generated content across blogs, micro-blogging srvices, comments, news, events, videos and bookmarks. And remember, you probably heard it here last.
